W Group founder Volodymyr Nosov buys stake in Spyker

W Group founder Volodymyr Nosov acquired a stake in Dutch automaker Spyker; the marque will join W Group and launch Spyker Digital to develop digital ownership tools.

Volodymyr Nosov, founder and president of W Group and WhiteBIT, has acquired a significant ownership stake in Dutch sports car maker Spyker. Spyker will join the W Group portfolio and be integrated into the holding’s business framework.

The investment is intended to support Spyker’s revival and future development while keeping the brand’s handcrafted, limited-production approach. W Group plans to provide strategic and technological support to the automaker as part of the agreement.

As part of the transaction, W Group will establish Spyker Digital. The new unit will build digital infrastructure and ownership solutions for the premium automotive sector, exploring use of blockchain and other emerging technologies to manage customer experience, vehicle provenance and ownership records without changing Spyker’s low-volume manufacturing model.

Volodymyr Nosov described the acquisition as a personal and strategic investment: ‘For many years I have been invested in rare automobiles and have always admired Spyker’s unique design language and extraordinary heritage. Becoming a co-owner is both personal and strategic. Our goal is to preserve what makes the brand special while helping it enter a new era of growth, innovation and global relevance.’

Spyker founder and CEO Victor Muller welcomed the partnership, noting that W Group’s backing and access to technology will support the brand’s return to wider markets. Muller pointed to early interest in the new model range as evidence of demand for Spyker products.

Spyker will present the C8 Preliator XXV at The Quail in Carmel, California, on August 14 and display it on the Concept Car Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16. The C8 Preliator XXV is listed with an 800 bhp non-hybrid twin-turbo V8 and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

W Group is a fintech ecosystem built around WhiteBIT, a European cryptocurrency exchange. The group reports serving roughly 35 million users in about 150 countries. WhiteBIT offers over 900 trading pairs, more than 340 assets and supports eight fiat currencies; it has commercial partnerships with several payments and sports organizations.

Spyker was founded in the Netherlands in 1880. The brand built the world’s first four-wheel-drive car in 1903, produced aircraft during World War I and has competed in events such as Formula One and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Today Spyker produces hand-built sports cars in very limited numbers with aviation-inspired design elements.
