Messari: Solana’s AI Agents Generated Measurable Output

Messari found Solana’s AI agents produced measurable economic output in Q1 2026; PlayBabylon logged 490,000 trades from 1,171 agents in five days and new payment and identity tools launched.

Messari’s State of Solana Q1 2026 report found that AI agent activity on Solana produced measurable economic output during the first quarter of 2026. The report covers application-layer activity, payments standards and identity tooling deployed on the network between January and March.

The multiplayer game PlayBabylon recorded 490,000 trades executed by 1,171 autonomous AI agents within its first five days of operation.

StormRae AI hosted a public red-teaming exercise that drew about 15,000 participants on the network. The Anagram team released SolanaClaw Agent, a tool that lets users initiate Solana transactions through messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram.

During Q1 Solana added support for Stripe’s Machine Payments Protocol (MPP). Messari notes Solana is the only major chain compatible with both MPP and the x402 standard, an open protocol for autonomous AI agent payments originally developed by Coinbase. QuickNode published an open-source package for agent-driven USDC payments and Alchemy added comparable functionality to its APIs. In March the Solana Foundation and Quantu AI launched an onchain Agent Registry to provide a standardized method for AI agents to establish verifiable identity on the network.

The report stated, ‘In Q1 2026, AI agent activity on Solana advanced from experimentation to measurable economic output,’ and referenced early metrics related to what some participants call ‘Agentic GDP,’ or economic value generated autonomously by non-human actors.

Messari attributed the increase in agent-driven transactions to Solana’s low transaction costs and sub-second finality, along with the expanding infrastructure of payments standards, API support and the agent registry.

The findings come from Messari’s State of Solana Q1 2026 report, which documents application-layer deployments, protocol updates and tooling released during the quarter.
