Genius launches G.OX crypto options exchange

Genius has launched G.OX, a crypto options exchange built with actively managed liquidity and simplified up/down contracts. G.OX is presented as the first stage of the Genius Options Protocol.

The platform offers binary-style up/down contracts that let traders take directional positions on crypto assets over fixed time horizons. Contracts settle against predefined prices, timestamps and market feeds so outcomes are tied to objective market data rather than external resolution.

Genius founder Armaan Kalsi said, “Prediction markets primarily price beliefs about events. G.OX is intended to price risk and volatility in financial markets.”

Perpetual futures have dominated crypto derivatives trading because they provide continuous liquidity and access to leverage. Options have seen lower use in crypto, in part because liquidity and pricing often degrade during volatile periods. Kalsi noted, “Perpetuals became crypto’s default leveraged product because the existing options experience was too complicated and often insufficiently liquid.”

G.OX uses an actively managed liquidity model that adjusts pricing and inventory as underlying assets move. The exchange will use proprietary systems to keep quotes responsive and to maintain execution size during market swings. Kalsi added, “An options venue is only useful when the quoted probability and available size reflect current market conditions.”

Contracts on G.OX cap losses at the amount of entry, removing liquidation mechanics and recurring funding payments tied to open leveraged positions. The products provide a defined exposure for a set time period instead of an open-ended leveraged position.

Genius positions G.OX to compete with large centralized and decentralized derivatives venues that handle billions in daily volume. The company says the platform will serve as a foundation for additional options instruments, trading strategies and integrations across decentralized finance.
