Gate, Alpaca enable USDT trading of 10,000+ U.S. stocks
Gate and Alpaca will let eligible users trade more than 10,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs using USDT, with fractional shares from $1 and execution and settlement via Alpaca’s brokerage.
Gate has partnered with U.S. broker-dealer Alpaca to give eligible users access to more than 10,000 U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds. Trades placed on Gate’s platform using USDT will be executed and settled through Alpaca on major exchanges including the NYSE and Nasdaq.
Under the agreement, Alpaca will act as the clearing broker and handle order execution, clearing, settlement, custody, dividend payments and corporate actions for the trades routed from Gate. Gate will permit fractional-share purchases starting at $1 and will display and let users trade regulated securities from within its unified account system.
Gate said the service will roll out to eligible users globally on its existing platform, which combines cryptocurrency trading with additional traditional finance products. The company described the offering as part of an expansion of its multi-asset trading capabilities to connect digital assets and U.S. equities in a single account.
Gate was founded in 2013 and reports it serves more than 54 million users. The firm already lists thousands of digital assets and operates products including Gate Wallet and Gate Ventures. Gate also says it was among the first platforms in the sector to implement 100% Proof of Reserves.
Alpaca is a U.S.-headquartered, self-clearing broker-dealer and API infrastructure provider. The firm supports more than 10 million brokerage accounts across hundreds of fintechs and institutions in over 40 countries and has raised more than $320 million in funding.
Gate plans to expand its TradFi offering to include equities, indices, commodities, metals and foreign exchange alongside its crypto services. The platform will maintain crypto trading while adding the new stock trading capability.
Dr. Han, Gate’s founder and chief executive, stated: “Our partnership with Alpaca provides seamless access to real stock market investing while keeping the platform simple and efficient for users.” Yoshi Yokokawa, Alpaca co-founder and chief executive, added: “We aim to open financial services to more people through modern infrastructure and to expand access to the U.S. stock market.”
