Drake Name-Drops Bitcoin and Sam Bankman-Fried on Iceman

Drake name-checks Bitcoin and Sam Bankman-Fried on Iceman, released May 15, 2026, calling himself “A BTC crypto big-timer” and referencing an “FTX penthouse” on the track “Dust.”

Drake name-checks Bitcoin and former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried on his album Iceman, released May 15, 2026. On the track “Dust,” he raps, “A BTC crypto big-timer,” and later references FTX with the line, “An FTX penthouse high-riser, yeah Samuel Bankman, free all my guys up.”

Bitcoin was trading near $80,700 when the album arrived, below its October 2025 record above $126,000.

Drake has previously used Bitcoin publicly. He has placed multi-million-dollar bets denominated in BTC and lost a six-figure amount on a Dallas Mavericks wager during an NBA Finals series.

Sam Bankman-Fried was convicted in 2023 after the collapse of the FTX exchange, where roughly $8 billion in customer funds were reported missing. He is serving a 25-year federal prison sentence and was denied a retrial earlier in 2026. There has been discussion in cryptocurrency circles this year about a possible presidential pardon.

Members of the cryptocurrency community interpreted the lines as a sign of wider cultural awareness of Bitcoin. References to Bitcoin have appeared in hip-hop, pop and electronic music for nearly a decade.

Market analysts note that celebrity references often attract retail interest and that such mentions do not automatically change prices.

The Iceman lyrics put a leading digital asset and a convicted exchange founder into mainstream pop lyrics.
