Western Union launches USDPT on Solana, links 400,000 agents

Western Union launched USDPT on Solana, a regulated U.S. dollar payment token issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and routed through Western Union’s 400,000-agent global payout network.
Western Union launched USDPT on Solana today. Anchorage Digital Bank issues the regulated U.S. dollar payment token and Western Union routes the tokens through its 400,000-agent global payout network. The token will settle on the Solana blockchain using Fireblocks infrastructure.
Western Union plans to use USDPT first for internal treasury and agent settlement. The company expects the token to replace slower correspondent bank transfers with near-instant transfers on Solana. Initial pilot corridors include the Philippines and Bolivia, two high-volume remittance markets where the company handles significant cash payouts.
A consumer-facing product called Stable by Western Union is scheduled to roll out in 2026 across about 40 countries. Western Union is also building a Digital Asset Network to connect licensed exchanges and custodians to its agent system, enabling regulated tokens to flow into the payout network for cash redemption.
Anchorage Digital Bank holds a federal charter and issues the regulated digital dollar token. Fireblocks provides custody and settlement plumbing for transfers. Western Union will apply its existing compliance controls for know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks at agent locations.
Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC together account for roughly 80% of the stablecoin market, which totals about $321 billion in market capitalization. Western Union’s USDPT is distinct in that it is routed through a large physical retail payout network spanning roughly 200 countries, including locations with limited banking access.
The arrangement links regulated digital dollars on a public blockchain to a global cash distribution network, allowing conversion at agent counters and faster settlement between Western Union’s treasury and field operations.
